”The closest I had ever been to death, to birth, to growth, to the co-conscious, to rapture, to rupture – was, according to the world around me, boring.”

My Journey

The story behind The Maternal Glow — why I started it, what I've learned, and who I'm writing for.

My Story, Born from Change

After becoming a mother in 2024, I experienced firsthand the hormonal, physical, and emotional shifts that accompany pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and the unfolding identity of motherhood. Yet amid these transformations, I noticed how little space existed for honest conversations about the skin changes that so often accompany this new era of a woman’s life.

Too often, women are expected to hold everything together — to move seamlessly into motherhood while preserving the version of themselves that existed before it. When our skin changes, many internalize it as a personal failing rather than recognizing it for what it truly is: evidence of a body that has undergone extraordinary transformation.

The Maternal Glow was born from a desire to change that narrative. Through thoughtful writing grounded in both lived experience and professional study as a cosmetic formulator, I explore the intersection of motherhood, emotional evolution, and skin health. I believe our skin does not betray us — it communicates with us. It reflects adaptation, resilience, and the profound biological work our bodies perform.

Here, mothers are invited to see themselves with greater compassion, to understand the science behind these changes, and to release the quiet pressure to “return” to who they once were.

Alongside the journal, I am developing a skincare line intentionally formulated to support mothers through these transitions — products created not from unrealistic ideals, but from deep respect for the skin in its changing states.

The Maternal Glow exists to help women feel seen, understood, and educated — to replace confusion with clarity, and self-criticism with acceptance. Because motherhood does not diminish us. It transforms us.

And there is glow to be found within that transformation.
